Alans professional career began in Detroit, Michigan in 1973, upon his graduation from Eastern Michigan University with a Degree in Business Administration. He began his business career in the accounting field, and was employed with Coopers and Lybrand CPAs in their Detroit, Michigan office from 1973-1975. He also obtained his CPA certificate during that time. In late 1976, Alan entered the Detroit College of Law, and obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1979. While in law school, Alan worked in the tax department of Price Waterhouse and Company CPAs. Upon graduation in 1979 from law school, Alan began his private law practice, and continued practicing law in Detroit, Michigan until his move to Arizona in 1986. His practice focused on all areas of taxation and employee benefit plans. Alans entrance into the PEO industry began in 1990, when he began to act as legal counsel to a Phoenix-based PEO and continued as its legal counsel until it was acquired in 1993. From that time, he continued to be actively involved in the PEO industry having been a feature speaker at a previous NAPEO conference, and was actively involved in the formation of a workers compensation insurance company that writes workers compensation insurance exclusively for the PEO industry. In 1997, Alan joined his wife Nancy Gagleard at Sunwest P.E.O. Inc., and became its President and Chief Executive Officer. Alan holds licenses to write life, health & disability insurance, as well as property and casualty insurance, including workers compensation insurance. Alan and Nancy Gagleard founded The Power
P.E.O. Inc. in October, 1998.
Nancy has been involved in the PEO industry since 1989, and her PEO career began as a controller and an assistant controller for two other PEOs in Arizona. Nancy graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University in 1979. Nancy's emphasis was in the accounting area, and she has also earned credits towards a Masters in professional accounting. Nancy's professional career includes 8 years with National Bank of Detroit, where she rose to the position of Assistant Vice President, Commercial Lending Department. Nancy founded Sunwest P.E.O. Inc. in 1994, and took the business from her living room to almost 5,000 leased employees with approximately $100 million of annualized revenue. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Nancy oversaw the operations side of Sunwest P.E.O. Inc. Nancy is also a licensed life and disability insurance agent. Nancy and Alan Gagleard founded The Power P.E.O. Inc. in October 1998.
Sandra joined The Power P.E.O. Inc. in May of 2002 as a Senior
Accountant. Shortly thereafter she was promoted to the position of
Controller.
